Wendy Gadwah is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor, certified as an Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor with over 20 years of therapeutic experience. She graduated with a Masters in Social Work from the University of Connecticut with a concentration in treating Women and Children in Families. She has worked in a wide array of settings with individuals and groups, including teens - older adults, and in promoting the integration of body, mind, and spirit.
Wendy works from a holistic, client-centered perspective, tailoring treatment to the client’s individual needs. She specializes in mindfulness practices, treating anxiety, mood disorders, codependency, addiction, trauma, ptsd, LGBTQIA+ issues, and women’s issues. Her professional interests include LGBTQIA+ identity development, emotional regulation and helping clients live according to their values.
Her approach is an eclectic one which integrates cognitive behavioral therapy, compassionate action oriented work, and mindfulness practices. She believes in not only treating the mind, and not only treating the body – not always falling into the medical model of psychology. Body, mind, and spirit all have an impact on overall health and wellbeing. Wendy focuses on developing and nurturing the relationship between therapist and client and her practice is rooted in the science behind body/mind/spirit awareness to maximize clients’ full potential with the purpose of increasing mindfulness and decreasing symptoms and suffering.
